Do all these steps to fix your windows updates.
π 1. Wait It Out (if possible)
- Give it time β sometimes the update seems stuck but is actually processing large files in the background.
- If itβs been more than 2 hours, itβs probably safe to assume something went wrong.
π§ 2. Force a Restart
- Press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to force a shutdown.
- Wait a minute, then turn it back on.
- Windows should either resume the update or roll it back automatically.
π 3. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
- After rebooting:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Click Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.
π§Ή 4. Clear the Update Cache
You can try clearing the cache that stores update files:
- Press
Win + R
, typeservices.msc
, and press Enter. - Find Windows Update service and stop it.
- Go to
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
and delete all contents (safe to delete). - Restart the Windows Update service.
- Reboot and try the update again.
β οΈ 5. Use the Windows 10 Update Assistant
If Windows Update still gets stuck:
- Download the Windows 10 Update Assistant from Microsoft’s website and use that instead β it’s more reliable for stuck updates.
π οΈ 6. Run System File Checker (SFC)
- Open Command Prompt as Admin.
- Type:
sfc /scannow
and press Enter. - Let it run and repair any corrupted files.
